Red River Gorge Hiker is about a connection to a place—the trails, ridgelines, sandstone, waterfalls, campsites, changing weather, long days outside, and the experiences that keep drawing people back to Kentucky’s Red River Gorge.
Red River Gorge Hiker is operated by Red River Gorge Hiker, LLC.
It began with one hiker spending a lot of time exploring the Gorge, but it was never meant to stop there.
The exploration came first. The photographs came from being out there.
That distinction still matters. Red River Gorge Hiker isn't a photography business that happened to choose the Gorge as its subject. It grew from hiking it, camping in it, getting to know it, and wanting to share some of what makes it worth returning to.
The Gorge is the point
More than the photographs.
Photography was where Red River Gorge Hiker began, but the idea has grown.
Today, RRGH brings together original photography, stories from the trail, hiking and backcountry information, puzzles and gear inspired by the Gorge, and a growing commitment to the people and organizations connected to this place.
The common thread is simple: the Red River Gorge comes first.
The photographs mean more because of where they came from. The stories matter because they were lived there. The gear means something because Red River Gorge Hiker is meant to be a name people who share that connection can recognize as their own.
Giving something back
Supporting Wolfe County Search & Rescue
Loving the Gorge also means recognizing the people who answer the call when a day in the woods goes wrong.
Wolfe County Search & Rescue serves people exploring some of the same trails, cliffs, ridges, hollows, and backcountry that Red River Gorge Hiker celebrates.
Supporting their work has become part of what RRGH is about.
Red River Gorge Hiker, LLC maintains two separate commitments to Wolfe County Search & Rescue: at least $500 each calendar year, plus 20% of positive Red River Gorge Hiker business profit.
It's one way a business built around this place can give something back to it.
How it started
From photography to something broader.
Red River Gorge Hiker grew from years spent hiking, backpacking, photographing, and exploring Kentucky’s Red River Gorge and Clifty Wilderness.
What began with original photography has grown into something broader: a place for art, stories, gear, useful information, local relationships, and selected work connected to people who genuinely know the Gorge.
The goal is not to make one person the center of the story. It is to celebrate the landscape, the experiences people carry home from it, and the people who explore, document, create, and serve here.
